St. Peter’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, St. Thomas Mount, follows a well-defined code of rules and regulations to maintain discipline, safety, and a positive learning environment. These rules are framed to support the academic, moral, and social development of students. All students and parents are expected to strictly adhere to the following guidelines.

General Discipline Rules

  • Students must maintain discipline, good conduct, and respectful behaviour within the school campus and during school-related activities.

  • Courtesy and respect towards teachers, staff members, and fellow students are mandatory at all times.

  • Students should be punctual and report to school on time for assemblies and classes.

  • Damage to school property, books, furniture, or infrastructure is strictly prohibited and will attract disciplinary action.

  • Use of inappropriate language, misconduct, bullying, or any form of indiscipline will not be tolerated.

  • Students must carry their school identity and belongings responsibly.

  • Mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and prohibited items are not allowed unless permitted by the school authorities.

Attendance Policy

  • Regular attendance is essential for academic progress and discipline.

  • Students must maintain the minimum attendance percentage prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Education Department.

  • Absence should be justified with a valid reason and supported by a leave note signed by the parent/guardian.

  • Medical leave must be supported with a medical certificate for prolonged absence.

  • Students returning after long absence must report to the class teacher or principal for permission.

  • Repeated or unexplained absence may lead to disciplinary action and affect academic performance.

Uniform Guidelines

  • Wearing the prescribed school uniform is compulsory on all working days and during school functions.

  • The uniform must be clean, neat, and worn with proper grooming and decorum.

  • Students should adhere to rules regarding hair style, footwear, and accessories as specified by the school.

  • Fancy ornaments, cosmetics, or inappropriate accessories are strictly prohibited.

  • Failure to comply with uniform regulations may result in disciplinary measures.

Homework & Academic Discipline

  • Students are expected to complete homework, assignments, and project work regularly and punctually.

  • Homework diaries must be maintained neatly and signed by parents regularly.

  • Students should bring required textbooks, notebooks, and learning materials daily.

  • Copying, malpractice, or unfair means during tests and examinations is strictly prohibited.

  • Consistent academic negligence may invite counseling and corrective measures.

Parent Responsibilities

  • Parents are expected to cooperate with the school in enforcing discipline and academic standards.

  • Regular communication with teachers regarding academic progress and behaviour is encouraged.

  • Parents should ensure their child’s punctuality, regular attendance, and proper uniform.
